Car chase ends in arrest for UWS student

A college student who sped away from a traffic stop and led police on a downtown chase because she wanted someone to talk to made her initial appearance in Douglas County Court Tuesday.

Anne Christine Lapka, 20, a University of Wisconsin-Superior student from Chanhassen, Minn., faces one felony charge of attempting to flee or elude a traffic officer.

Based on a survey published via the Internet, here are some of the odd things reported by HR professionals.

1. "... said he was so well-qualified that if he didn't get the job, it would prove that the company's management was incompetent."

2. "... stretched out on the floor to fill out the job application."

3. "... brought her large dog to the interview."

4. "... chewed bubble gum and constantly blew bubbles."

5. "Candidate kept giggling through serious interview."

6. "She wore a Walkman and said she could listen to me and the music at the same time."

Well, we're sorry about the long wait. Also, we're sorry that we don't really have a good reason for the wait. Oh well. You'll get over it. A man in Johannesberg, South Africa, shot his 49-year-old friend in the face, seriously wounding him, while the two practiced shooting beer cans off each other's head.

A bus carrying five passengers was hit by a car in St. Louis, but by the time police arrived on the scene, fourteen pedestrians had boarded the bus and had begun to complain of whiplash injuries and back pain.
